The origins, the story, the values

1985

During the 1985 Champions League final in Brussels, Sandro Cepollina, with several years of experience as a sales representative for a flower exporting company, was persuaded by a dear friend, a German flower importer, to start his own company. That same year, Sandro embarked on the adventure and founded Ciesse Flower Export.

1980s

Initially, operations were taking place in a garage near the bustling Sanremo flower market. Sandro, with his father's car, embarked on a journey across Europe to establish crucial connections. Recognising the pivotal role of service quality alongside product excellence, he invested in a 6.5-ton refrigerated truck for initial deliveries to England and Germany.

Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, United States and Canada were the first countries where Ciesse began exporting. Since then, the company has experienced consistent growth, shaping its successful history. With the initial profits, Sandro purchased plastic containers for transporting flowers. After two years, in 1987, the company moved to a 1200-square-meter warehouse.

The careful control of logistics and the punctuality of deliveries are fundamental for evaluating the quality of service. For this reason, in 1990, Ciesse Transport was established, a company within the Ciesse group that handles transportation on behalf of Ciesse and third parties.

During the 1990s, Ciesse UK and Ciesse France Fleurs were established. Ciesse UK continues to thrive today, focusing on streamlining customs procedures for their clients in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Ciesse France Fleurs, based in Nice, had a team of dedicated buyers who carefully selected the finest local blooms to sell in the various international markets where Ciesse exported..

1992

The company further expanded in the 1990s, conquering new markets: Norway, France, Eastern Europe, and Japan. The acquisition of new markets and the continuous growth of Ciesse led the company to move to a new headquarters of approximately 3,500 square meters, in 1992.

In 1997, the company made a strategic move to a cutting-edge facility covering 5,500 square meters. This state-of-the-art location is outfitted with the latest technologies and solar panels to generate sustainable and clean energy, driving productivity and efficiency to new heights.
